I have postponed to upgrade this blog because I really don't like to deal with web stuffs, for example, php, mysql, copying files to somewhere and setting up things. But the time has came. On the other hand, I have created a little site based on Drupal 7 in the last a few weeks and I found Drupal 7 much better than the previous version. I mean it's comfortable to use. The root cause of postponing was that I was afraid to loose the old content because it's too much to loose it. Too valuable for me. At least the process of upgrade have happened without any major issue, though, there was a moment during the database conversation when I got a few hundred notice and warning level messages. But the conversation was successful and I was surprised and impressed.
In order to avoid the issues with CSS and other web shits, because I hate them, I choose one of the default theme of Drupal 7. On the other hand, the theme is simple and we could say nice. Not to mention the fact that I got away to create a new theme. It would have been a pain in my ass.
The brand new thing on this site is that both Hungarian and English language handled separatedly. I'm going to write everythin on both language. It's possible it will be a huge problem for me in the future because basically I have two sites! I'm forced to translate everything! By the way this was the main purpose of this. I have to write in English because it may be essential part of my future. But I have to emphasize the fact that the Drupal provides me a very inconvience help to manage contents on both languages.
Húztam halasztottam amíg csak lehet, de eljött ez is. Elvállaltam egy kicsi weboldal elkészítését és ott használtam először a 7. verziót. Megtetszett és azért döntöttem úgy, hogy ezt fogom odatenni a blogom alá. Igazából nagyon féltem attól, hogy a régi dolgok elvesznek. Túl sok volt már az, hogy ne foglalkozzak vele. De végül az upgrade folyamata szinte zökkenő nélkül ment. Az adatbázist átalakította magának az új forráskód minden probléma nélkül. Az azért igaz, hogy kitolt vagy 300 notice meg warning üzenetet, de egyik sem volt annyira bajos, hogy ne tudta volna megcsinálni. Bevallom, hogy ez most kellemes meglepetés volt a drupaltól.
A sminknél azt a döntést hoztam meg, hogy nem vacakolok valami egyedi kitalálásával, hanem használom az alapértelmezettet. Nem akarok fölöslegesen problémákat okozni magamnak azzal, hogy CSS -ben kelljen túrkálnom. Határozottan nem rajongok érte. Arról nem is beszélve, hogy ez a smink esztétikus és egyszerű.
Ami igazán nagy újdonság - és lehet, hogy alaposan lábon lőttem vele magam -, hogy angolul és magyarul is van az egész weboldalam. Azért csináltam így, hogy ösztökéljem magam arra, hogy írjak angolul is és ne csak magyarul. Azért gondolom, hogy lábon lőttem magam, mert ez olyan mintha két oldalt adminisztrálnák még annak ellenére is, hogy a Drupal motor elég sok mindenben segít. Idővel meglátjuk, hogy mi lesz ebből.
